Event Description

Campus Recreation celebrates health, activity, competition & inclusivity on National Recreational Sports & Fitness Day. It's a day to not only commemorate the founding of NIRSA, but a day for us to acknowledge the various types of recreation that support health & wellness across our campus - from lifting weights, hiking, painting, dancing & so much more!

Share how you Rec on social media and tag us @PUCampusRec!

Celebrate with us in the following ways:

  • Monday, 2/17: Instagram Giveaway for students - Enter into the giveaway.
  • Monday, 2/17 - Thursday, 2/20: If you're an undergraduate student, participate in our Res College Step Challenge.
  • Wednesday, 2/19: Stop by our table in the Class of 1986 Fitness & Wellness Center Lounge from 4:00pm - 7:00pm to compete in our Push Up Challenge, share how you Rec for, or answer Trivia for a chance to win SWAG!
    • We will raffle $20 Paw Points for participants in the Push Up Challenge.
    • The person with the most push-ups in 30 seconds will automatically win $10 Paw Points and SWAG Bag.
    • Top 3 individuals will have their name posted on our TVs and on our Instagram Story!
  • Thursday, 2/20 (7pm - 9:30pm): Come watch Cardboard Canoe Race in the Rec Pool. Races begin around 8:30pm.

Every year, on the day commemorating NIRSA’s founding — February 22, 1950 — we like to gather together with schools, companies, and associations across North America to celebrate campus recreation.

On this day we remember the vision set in motion by Dr. William Wasson and his esteemed colleagues at the first NIRSA Conference: To celebrate health, activity, competition, and inclusivity.

Will you join us in celebrating recreational sports and fitness?
