- The first Rope Climb Challenge was held on November 13, 2008. It was renamed Scale the Washington Monument in May 2014.
- Participants rope climb 555 feet, the approximate height of the Washington Monument, on the Viper (a rope-climbing machine) as fast as possible. Men will use LEVEL 7 and women will use LEVEL 5.
- Participants can register in the Stephens Fitness Center on the day of the event.
- T-shirts are awarded to the male and female participants who climb the assigned distance in the fastest time. Recent results and event records are noted below.
